The Vis-Moot team of Riga Graduate School of Law finished their mooting journey at the 32nd Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (Vis-Moot) finals in Vienna last week.
While participating in this moot court is a challenging journey spanning across more than six months, with many late nights drafting memorandums for both Claimant and Respondent and constant oral presentations leading up to finals in Vienna, the team members benefit from invaluable experience, says the RGSL team members, RGSL Bachelor students Ulrika Eihe, Julia Marie Wright, Mihails Džondžua, and Miane Le Roux.
The Vis-Moot environment is truly one that allows participants to advance not only educationally but professionally as well. With nearly 400 teams from all over the world participating this year, it is an absolute privilege to take part in this international platform alongside current and aspiring legal professionals.
The use of the newly emerging Finland Arbitration Institution's rules, in addition to the consistent application of the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG), and other international legal instruments, presented new and exciting challenges for all involved.
Thanks to the commitment and support of our coaches, RGSL Associate Professor Aleksandrs Fillers, Katrīna Salmgrieze, and Elvis Grinbergs, as well as the continuous campaigning of RGSL for its students' development, the team was able to take part in this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
