On 10 and 11 April, two RGSL teams, “Three musketeers” (Kristaps Kārlis Naglis, Adrians Kupcovs and Rūdolfs Brauners) and “Nihil Obstat” (Hugo Viļumsons, Emīls Sprindžuks and Elizabete Fiļipoviča) took part in the 6th Konstantīns Čakste annual Latvian National Moot Court in Civil Law, where the team “Three musketeers” formed by 1st year “Law and Diplomacy” students Kristaps Kārlis Naglis, Adrians Kupcovs and Rūdolfs Brauners, successfully overcame 3 preliminary rounds, held across different Law firms, and earned a spot in the semi-finals, in the end securing a shared 3rd place, among a competition of 16 teams.
The Konstantīns Čakste moot court competition gathered students from different universities across both bachelor and masters programmes, and covered matters like crypto currency and its various scam schemes, different ways on how to interpret work-performance contracts, as well as provided a challenge to adapt to a wide range of argumentations, ask the right questions to the opposing teams, and answer many questions from the judges on contract law norms.
Though as much as our own work was put into writing both our claimant and respondent positions, and practising for the oral rounds, we could not have done it without our coaches – RGSL bachelor programmes Director Dr. Laura Kadile, Associate Professor Dr. Aleksandrs Fillers and the participant of numerous national and international moot courts, Roberts Gusts.
The team is grateful to the organisers for this wonderful opportunity! "As the saying of our team goes – 'One for all and all for one!”
