Riga Graduate School of Law (RGSL) Law and Diplomacy bachelor programme and Erasmus exchange students led by RGSL Lecturer Ieva Miļūna visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia on 15 October and met with Katrīna Kaktiņa, Director of the Department of International Organisations and Human Rights. The visit focused on international organisations and the legal frameworks within which Latvia operates.
Students had the opportunity to explore key questions such as Latvia’s participation in international organisations and its benefits, the primary obligations of the State within these organisations, the development of Latvia's political and legal positions, the day-to-day life of a diplomat in international organisations, and last but not least, the role of research in the foreign affairs sector. The students were also able to see publicly accessible areas of the Ministry.
The visit was part of the RGSL 4th Research Week, which takes place from 14 to 18 October 2024 in line with RGSL's mission to strengthen its role as a leading research-driven institution in the Baltic region.
