Last week Dr. Laura Ratniece, RGSL Rector, Ulla Zumente-Steele, RGSL Erasmus coordinator and Dr Aleksandrs Potaičuks, RGSL Bachelor Programmes Director, participated at the annual Nordplus Law Network meeting in Reykjavik, Iceland. This year's conference was organised by Reykjavik University and the University of Iceland, and its participants discussed the latest trends in legal education, planned new cooperation projects and discussed the development of the Nordplus Law Network.
The Nordplus Law Network, created more than a decade ago, today comprises 22 Nordic law schools specialising in the field of law from Denmark (Copenhagen University, Syddansk University, Aarhus University, Aalbor University), Estonia (University of Tartu), Finland (Helsinki University, University of Lapland, Turku University and the University of Eastern Finland), Iceland (the University of Iceland and Reykjavik University), Latvia (Riga Graduate School of Law), Lithuania (Mykolas Romeris University), Norway (University of Oslo, University of Bergen, the Arctic University of Norway), Sweden (Stockholm University, Orebro University, Lund University, Uppsala University, Umea University and the University of Gothenburg).
The overall goal of the network is to reinforce the academic cooperation between the members of the network through the systematic exchange of cultural and professional experience and best practices, thus ensuring and strengthening Nordic solidarity and cultural understanding. The Nordplus Law Network members have become multi-lateral partners of the Erasmus+ inter-institutional agreement framework. The cooperation within the network takes the form of systematic, extensive and well-organized academic mobility of students and the exchange of teaching staff, which increases knowledge of different Nordic legal cultures and develops intercultural and professional know-how.
The network is open to new members training legal professionals and developing a wide range of courses at an advanced level offered for Nordic exchange students.
