In order to carry out our vision of establishing Riga Graduate School of Law (RGSL) as a leading research-intensive centre of legal studies in the Baltic area, RGSL will hold a Research Week from 19 to 23 September 2022 with intensive programme aimed to educate our students on the perspectives and practices in research, as well as celebrate their achievements at the 3rd International Student Research conference on 23 September.
The research week will commence with an online seminar by the team of the editors of the Baltic Yearbook of International Law, published by RGSL, on “Russia’s War in Ukraine and the Baltic States” on 19 September from 10:00 to 13:00 (register your attendance here), and will continue with a public lecture by RGSL new Rector Dr. Adam Czarnota on “Democratic frustration. Populism and challenges to liberal-democratic constitutionalism in Central-Eastern Europe” from 15:30 to 17:00 (register your attendance here).
The Research Week will continue with a lecture to RGSL students by Michael W. Grant, Regional Resident Legal Advisor, United States Department of Justice, Embassy of the United States of America, as well as introduction in research and academic writing by RGSL Bachelor programmes Director Dr. Inga Jēkabsone and Lecturer Anastasija Kaplane.
On 23 September the floor will be given to the students to present their research papers at the RGSL 3rd International Student Research Paper Conference. The Conference will be opened by RGSL Rector Dr. Adam Czarnota, followed by a keynote lecture by RGSL Visiting Professor, Dr.sc.pol. Toms Rostoks and a greeting from RGSL Graduate (2022) Markuss Kozlinskis, and student research paper presentations.
