On October 20 our LL.B students had the pleasure to hear an online lecture on Overview of Criminal Justice in the United States and Role of a Prosecutor in Doing Justice given by Ameet Kabrawala, the Baltics Regional Resident Legal Advisor with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance, and Training (OPDAT).
Ameet is on an overseas assignment from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, where he is an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the International Narcotics and Money Laundering Section. As a federal prosecutor, Ameet received the True American Hero Award from the Federal Drug Agents Foundation for leading complex trade-based money laundering cases that dismantled criminal organizations in five continents.
Before joining the DOJ, Ameet worked as a litigator at a commercial law firm in Manhattan and served as a law clerk to a federal district judge in Brooklyn.
Thank you, Ameet, for an excellent presentation and the United States Embassy in Latvia for cooperation in organizing this lecture.
