We are happy to inform that we have received 23 submissions from 10 countries for the workshop “Governing Remembrance: Collective Memory, the Public Sphere and Law”, which will take place at Riga Graduate School of Law on 24-25 May 2024.
The presenters at the workshop come from Austria, Belgium, China, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Poland and Switzerland – University of Akureyri, University of Gent, Hongkong University, University of Latvia, Pázmány Péter Catholic University, Riga Stradiņš University, Graz University, University of Genewa, Polish Academy of Science, Vilnius University, Jagiellonian University, West University of Timmisoara, Economic University in Kraków, SWSP University, Wroclaw University, and Riga Graduate School of Law.
The workshop’s main objective is to bring together socio-legal scholars whose research tackles the phenomena of commemoration and social remembrance. This includes both an update of the theory of collective social memory itself and specific case studies examining local policies that seek to regulate this issue by law.
The organisers intend to publish the workshop proceedings.
