This guest seminar is part of the study course „International Organisations” available for second year students of „Law & Diplomacy” in the RGSL Bachelor programme.
Many countries in the world, also Latvia among them, have been hit seriously by the global economic crisis in recent years. Mr. Andris Vilks, the Latvian Minister of Finance, has been directly involved in dealing and signing the agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) which saved Latvia from bankruptcy during the financial and economic crisis. The discussion with Mr. Andris Vilks will include information on the steps had to be taken to sign the agreement between IMF and Latvia. The Latvian success formula will be discussed, as well as students will have the opportunity to get some insights on the “backstage part” of negotiations with the IMF and processes that remain beyond the lights of mass media.
