Law and Finance Masters programme student Māra Bukovska and Law and Diplomacy Bachelor student Agnese Veckalne have won in an essay contest on the theme "Many Languages, One World" organised by the United Nations Academic Impact in collaboration with ELS Educational Services, Inc.
More than 1,400 essays were successfully submitted to the contest by students ranging from college freshmen to Doctoral candidates, and from 128 countries around the world. Ten essay submissions from each official language of the United Nations – Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish – were selected, and the winning contestants, who represent 26 different countries, were invited to participate in a five-day conference and youth forum in New York on 25 - 29 June.
