On 17 November 2011, in the framework of International Humanitarian Law course and in the advent of Latvian national holiday the Riga Graduate School of Law (RGSL) students visited the Latvian National Armed Forces’ Ādaži military base.
The RGSL students got acquainted with the progress of the Latvian mission operating under the ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) in Afghanistan, decision-making at the operational level of NATO, its Member States and the party of Afghanistan for the successful implementation of the mission, as well as daily situations faced by Latvian soldiers in Afghanistan.
While the tour of the military base students had an opportunity to examine the Latvian Armed Forces’ military technique and vehicles, get acquainted with the organization of the daily life of the professional military service as well as weapons possessed by the Latvian army.
During the visit, RGSL students got a broader insight into the organization and practical capabilities of the Latvian military system in order to further discuss the enforcement of international humanitarian law while fulfilling Latvia's international obligations during international missions.
