“The Arts Diplomacy Festival 2012: Cultural Diplomacy in Practice” was organized by the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy in Berlin. From the RGSL at the Festival participated Andrejs Vasiļevskis, 1st Year Bachelor Student of Law & Diplomacy programme.
The conference was opened to applications from governmental and diplomatic officials, civil society practitioners, young professionals, students and scholars, private sector representatives, journalists, and other interested stakeholders from across the world. Overall amount of participants – 61. There were participants from Afghanistan, Egypt, the United States of America, Mexico, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Netherlands, Canada, the Republic of South Africa, Ukraine and other countries.
Andrejs Vasiļevskis after the Festival concluded: "Theory I have studied during the lectures should be used on practice. Perfect chance to apply my knowledge was to participate in international conference “The Arts Diplomacy Festival 2012: Cultural Diplomacy in Practice”. It was absolutely unique event managed by the Institute of Cultural Diplomacy. Variable types of panel discussions, meetings and cultural events made this festival very important in contact between people from different countries, continents and cultures. After Cultural Diplomacy conference I can make a decision that art is a stable basis for developing international relations. In conclusion, I would like to say that I was proud of being representative of Republic of Latvia and Riga Graduate School of Law in such high level."
The programme consisted of lectures, seminars, debates and panel discussions featuring leading figures from international politics, diplomacy, academia, civil society, and the private sector. The Festival showcased the performances of artists, musicians and performers from all over the world and included a full day of practical workshops devoted to planning for future initiatives.
