On 5 February 2016 RGSL Professor, Judge of the Constitutional Court Ineta Ziemele and Visiting Professor Tjaco T. van den Hout will participate in the annual international scientific conference of the University of Latvia. The University of Latvia's (UL) Faculty of Law will hold it's own plenary session and 8 different additional sessions in various fields of law.
The legal plenary session of the conference is always dedicated to current issues in international law; this year legal aspects of foreign investment will be discussed. The plenary session "Foreign Investment: When Law Interacts" will be opened with an address of the Dean of the Faculty of Law - Associate Professor Anita Rodiņa. The session's key note speaker will be RGSL Visiting Professor, the former Secretary General of the Permanent Court of Arbitration Tjaco T. van den Hout, reporting on "Provisional Application Clauses in Multilateral Investment treaties".
RGSL Professor Ineta Ziemele will take part at a session on the doctrine of State continuity with a topic "Valsts nepārtrauktības prasības akcepta nepieciešamība – starptautisko tiesību jautājums un sekas".
All sessions in law will be broadcasted online on the web page of the UL Faculty of Law and available in the video archive after the event. The plenary session is an event for invited guests; it will be held in English and Latvian without translation. All papers in the further sessions in law will be read in Latvian.
