Upward Association in cooperation with the Riga Graduate School of Law organized a public discussion “Youth unemployment in Latvia and EU” on 8 November 2012 at the Riga Graduate School of Law.
Youth unemployment rates are generally much higher than unemployment rates for all ages. High youth unemployment rates do reflect the difficulties faced by young people in finding jobs not only in Latvia, but also around other EU member states.
The aim of the discussion is to assess the role of the State Employment Agency that supports job seekers and persons under risk of unemployment, as well as to look at the growing youth unemployment problem as such in the European Union.
Guest speakers:
- Inna Šteinbuka, Head of the European Commission’s Representation in Latvia
- Eva Lossane, Representative of the State Employment Agency
