As a part of the upcoming “Riga Moot 2016” international moot court competition an open discussion took place on 10 May at Riga Graduate School of Law.
As the topic of this year’s Riga Moot case is devoted to problematics with the refugee question in the European Union, the discussion explored the question in detail in order to understand the main legal issues and the involvement of Latvia in resolving issues concerning the refugee question.
The discussion was a unique opportunity to hear opinions from experts on the issue: Vladimiras Siniovas (Lithuania), Legal Officer with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees; Martins Hirss (Latvia), Research Fellow at the Centre for Security and Strategic Research; Dmitrijs Trofimovs (Latvia), Deputy State Secretary at the Ministry of the Interior. The discussion was moderated by Ieva Miluna, lecturer at Riga Graduate School of Law.
