Upward Association in cooperation with the Riga Graduate School of Law organized public discussion about "The role of national identity and language in Latvia" on 15 February at the Riga Graduate School of Law.
Our goal is to present multiple viewpoints and provide a forum for open discussion and debate on the topic of national identity and the role of language in Latvia. Brief presentations by our guest speakers was followed by a question and answer session, providing ample opportunity to engage in constructive dialogue about these important issues.
Guest lecturers included two members of Latvian Parliament - Ilmārs Latkovskis Nacionālās apvienības "Visu Latvijai!"–"Tēvzemei un Brīvībai/LNNK"; Nikolajs Kabanovs Politisko partiju apvienības “Saskaņas Centrs”; and two student representatives - Mārtiņš Pavasaris Faculty of Law, University of Latvia; Vladislava Batčeva Law and Business programme, Riga Graduate School of Law.
