An early patron of the Riga Graduate School of Law, Econ. Dr. H.C. Peter Wallenberg, passed away on 19 January 2015. RGSL offers its condolences to the family, colleagues and friends of Mr.Wallenberg.
The Riga Graduate School of Law was founded in 1998 by the Governments of Latvia and Sweden and the Soros Foundation Latvia. The Soros Foundation donated the historic building at Alberta Street 13 to the School. In 2001 a new building in the School’s inner courtyard was opened. Owing to Peter Wallenberg’s support, the funding for the construction of this building was provided by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, and in gratitude the building was named after Peter Wallenberg. The use of the building to promote teaching activities is crucial to the operation of RGSL.
In its 16 years of existence, RGSL has emerged as a prestigious international law school offering undergraduate studies, as well as master's and doctoral programmes in European and international law, diplomacy, business, finance and legal linguistics.
