Guest lectures by prominent arbitrators and legal experts Dr. Susanne Kratzsch and Dan Terkildsen

On 9 January 2012 two prominent arbitrators and legal experts Dr. Su­sanne Kratzsch from Stuttgart and Dan Terkildsen from Copenhagen delivered guest lectures within the Bachelor course “Introduction to ADR”. The lectures covered the role of state courts in arbitration and the importance of careful drafting of dispute resolution clauses as well as current issues in the international commercial arbitration.

Dr. Su­sanne Kratzsch is a mem­ber of the Ger­man In­sti­tute of Ar­bi­tra­tion (DIS), the Swiss Ar­bi­tra­tion As­so­ci­a­tion (ASA), the Char­tered In­sti­tute of Ar­bi­tra­tors (CIA­rb), the Club Es­pañol del Ar­bi­tra­je (CEA), the Bel­gian Cen­ter for Ar­bi­tra­tion and Me­di­a­tion (CEPANI), the British In­sti­tute of In­ter­na­tion­al and Com­par­a­tive Law (BI­ICL), the So­ci­ety of Con­struc­tion Law (SCL), the Bankrechtliche Vere­ini­gung e.V., the Ger­man-Swiss Lawyers´ As­so­ci­a­tion e.V. and the Ger­man-Span­ish Lawyers´ As­so­ci­a­tion e.V. She is list­ed as Ar­bi­tra­tor with the Dubai In­ter­na­tion­al Ar­bi­tra­tion Cen­tre. Pub­li­ca­tions on ar­bi­tra­tion, al­ter­na­tive dis­pute res­o­lu­tion (ADR) and plant en­gi­neer­ing. She works as coun­sel both in ad hoc and in­sti­tu­tion­al and court ar­bi­tra­tion pro­ceed­ings (ICC, DIS, Vi­en­na Cham­bers, Swiss Rules, NAI) and the sub­se­quent ex­e­quatur pro­ceed­ings. Be­sides, Dr. Kratzsch acts as an ar­bi­tra­tor. Her prac­tice com­pris­es al­so ad­vice and rep­re­sen­ta­tion of Ger­man and for­eign com­pa­nies in the area of cross- bor­der lit­i­ga­tion and recog­ni­tion and en­force­ment of judgments.

Prof. Dan Terkildsen is an Assistant Professor in Commercial Law, he is admitted to the Supreme Court of Denmark and he is an experienced litigator, member of the Danish and International Bar Association. In addition to domestic litigation, involved in international arbitration matters, especially within the ICC.In addition to his litigation practice, Dan also advises on commercial matters in general (especially within the field of employment law) and he sits on different company boards. Dan is listed by European Legal Experts 2010 as a legal expert within the areas of Dispute Resolution and Employment.For a period of 10 years, he was chairman of the Conservative Party in Copenhagen and had a seat on the party´s national board.
