On Monday 23 September 2013, RGSL students received a special guest lecture by former president of the Swedish Court of Appeal, Kenneth Bratthall. The lecture formed part of the RGSL course entitled European Law Moot Court, which is a third year elective with focus on practical procedure at the European Court of Justice.
Kenneth Bratthall has worked extensively with ensuring awareness of EU law and procedure within the Swedish judicial system, and also acts as advisor for the European Commission on judicial procedure in relation to new states seeking association with and accession to the European Union.
The guest lecture presented by Kenneth Bratthall at RGSL covered the perspective of the national judge in using the preliminary reference system of the European Court of Justice, and as an example of judicial development, he also presented a review of recent case law on the European Arrest Warrant.
