Lecture and discussion by Mr. Inguss Kanins on negotiation experience at EU Council

Guest lecture and discussion with Mr. Inguss Kalnins, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Justice was held in the framework of the RGSL Maters study course ‘Policy Implementation and Negotiation Techniques’.
The lecture addresses the practical aspects of the negotiations in EU Council, the interaction between the member state’s capital and the EU in terms of exerting the national interests and cooperation with the EU institutions. Mr. Kalnins’ profile combines both – the high ranking academic credentials (studies at Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University etc.), as well as practical engagement in negotiations in capacity of the Attaché of the Ministry of Justice at Permanent Representation in Brussels (2006-2009). In his lecture he also touches upon the representation at the EU Court of Justice, where he currently acts as the representative of the Latvian Cabinet of Ministers.
