Guest lecture by Dr. Stephan Knabe "The foundation as an appealing follow-up solution"
Foundations have still a shadowing existence within the available legal forms for companies.
They are not only the spinal column of the non-profit-sector but also an interesting alternative for a follow-up situation in midsize, often family-owned companies. 20 years after the turnaround in Middle and Eastern Europe many family-owned, often medium- or large-sized businesses are confronted with the need of changes in the shareholders and/or the management.
Such a change is at high risk for the organisational and financial structure as well as for the personal situation of the owners and their followers. A foundation could solve many of these problems if properly used.
