Jean Claude Juncker’s European Commission takes office at a critical time of growing internal and external challenges to the European project. Slow economic growth and a gradually decreasing role in the global economy as well as growing public disappointment as manifested in the recent European elections indicates that the EU is in need of reform. Political analysts from the UK and Latvia will discuss how the European Commission could promote economic growth, jobs and welfare in the European Union and bridge the gap between the EU and its citizens.
Participants: Pawel Swidlicki (Open Europe), Stephen Tindale (Centre for European Reform), Dace Akule (Providus)
Moderator: Dr. Daunis Auers (Latvian University, RGSL)
