Careers in law, business, or diplomacy are at the core of what we offer. Studies in English, a strong international environment, and interdisciplinarity are the main reasons our students choose us.
Our Bachelor programmes:
• Law & Business
• Law & Diplomacy
give the graduates a good base for their careers.
“At RGSL, our small class sizes and focus on law, business, or diplomacy create a unique environment that fosters success,” shares Paula Lipe, a 2022 graduate of our Law & Diplomacy Bachelor programme and a Legal Assistant at LEADELL Law Offices. “Studying in English was a key advantage for me, as it prepared me for the international work environment. In fact, at my first job interview, I was asked to draft a legal document in English.”

“At RGSL I especially enjoyed the student-centered learning concept, which allows room for debate and individual questions during lectures. Studies at RGSL helped me to develop critical thinking, problem-solving in real-life scenarios, and how to adapt to a dynamic environment, but most importantly, it shaped me as an individual,” says Paula Kellija, Paralegal at Klotiņi/Serģis Law firm, RGSL Law & Business programme Alumna (2022).
Our Bachelor students Markuss Zabello and Santija Veselova share their tips and tricks for a successful application and for choosing the right study programme.
Challenging studies, international environment
According to a recent survey by the Latvian Ministry of Education and Science, the annual income of university graduates is 30% higher than the national average in Latvia. We are happy to share that SSE Riga and Riga Graduate School of Law share the top spot among private universities.
RGSL has received Latvian state accreditation until 2027, with all of our study programmes rated as excellent or good. It was also noted that RGSL is the only higher education institution in the Baltics that offers an interdisciplinary approach in all of its study programmes, thus ensuring that RGSL graduates are competitive in the labour market. More about our study programmes can be found here: https://www.rgsl.edu.lv/programmes
We have a strong international environment with students and faculty coming from more than 30 countries.
“RGSL gives you plenty of opportunities; all professors are professionals in the field, and you can ask them anything. You can connect all things you learn at RGSL both with your experience and real life issues. The size of the school also matters – all the students I started with are my friends now, really smart people practising law. We are like family,” says Aksels Zingulis, RGSL Law and Business bachelor programme graduate (2020). “I understood there is no business without law, and this programme at RGSL gave me the chance to study both.”
We are also active on the Erasmus network, with more than 40 partner universities to host our students.
Student life
As RGSL is a small law school, students and faculty know each other by name, and students often enter the professional world via the contacts they obtain during their studies.
Our very active Student Association (SA) engages students in various events we do on our own, like sports games, barbecue parties or game and movie nights and underground moot courts, or together with our neighbour Stockholm School of Economics, like new student baptizing, Valentines’ day ball and other events – all ready to restart as soon as restrictions are lifted. Our SA also provides assistance to foreign students in the form of student buddies – local students who help to get around and know the local environment.
Bachelor programme Law&Business student Viktorija Kovalova discuss her study choice.
Life after graduation
Our Alumni surveys show that 92% of our graduates are employed, and 58% of them have started a study-related, professional job already during their studies. Erasmus and other internship opportunities offered by our industry partners—various law firms, businesses, and startups, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia and various embassies in Riga and abroad—certainly help.
Graduates have indicated that they work as lawyers, project managers, business analysts, researchers, civil servants, consultants, and data protection specialists. Many graduates have indicated that they also hold senior positions, such as running their own companies, being heads of departments, and working in international organizations. About a third of graduates are employed in the service sector, a fifth work in public administration, 15% in a research organization, and just as much in the ICT sector. 20% of graduates have started their own business, while about 15% are planning to start their own business in the near future.
Our graduates who decide to continue their Masters studies are accepted into prestigious universities worldwide, including the University of Leuven (Belgium), the University of Amsterdam (the Netherlands), and others.
"RGSL is an exceptional and distinct academic institution for legal education, primarily due to its capacity to furnish students with a comprehensive interdisciplinary perspective, namely, adding to law studies narratives of diplomacy and business, which I value highly.
I can confidently attest that studying at RGSL has been a truly remarkable experience, transcending the boundaries of the prescribed curriculum and extending far beyond the confines of Latvia, affording students numerous opportunities for personal and professional growth," says Valērija Ruta Hartmane, Law & Diplomacy programme Alumna (2023) who recently graduated from Stockholm University with an LL.M. degree in International Commercial Arbitration Law.
"RGSL programmes offer an excellent academic foundation for any student interested in pursuing a career in law, business or diplomacy. Just as importantly, RGSL facilitates a lively environment where students have the opportunity to meet their future colleagues, business partners and experts of different fields,” says Edvarts Pauls Indārs, RGSL
Law & Diplomacy programme graduate (2022), Senior Associate at PwC Legal law firm.
