To mark the start of the RGSL Research Week, the RGSL new Rector Dr. Adam Czarnota will give a public lecture “Democratic frustration. Populism and challenges to liberal-democratic constitutionalism in Central-Eastern Europe” on 19 September from 15:30 – 17:00 at RGSL premises on Strēlnieku 4 k-2.
Dr. Adam Czarnota has been appointed Rector of Riga Graduate School of Law for years 2022-2025. Before, he was an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Law and Justice, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia and Professor of Law and Director of the Centre for Legal Education and Social Theory, University of Wrocław. In years 2013-2016 he was Scientific Director of the International Institute for the Sociology of Law, Oñati, Spain.
His areas of research interest include law and social theory, legal theory, legal history and comparative law. His present research projects are on populism and its impact on constitutionalism and rule of law and epistemic authority of lawyers.
