Riga Graduate School of Law (RGSL) is pleased to announce the second public lecture in the lecture series made in cooperation with Ellex Kļaviņš on December 18 at 16:00 at the RGSL on Strēlnieku 4 k-2.
The lecture will be presented by Pēteris Zilgalvis, J.D., Head of Unit, Digital Innovation and Blockchain, Digital Single Market Directorate, DG CONNECT and Co-Chair, FinTech Task Force, European Commission and titled “The Digital Single Market: the challenges and opportunities of decentralized technologies for EU law”.
“We are in the process of moving from digitalization dominated by platforms and concentrated silos of data to a digitalization based on decentralized technologies (Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things), which hold great promise for the European economy and society. This is both a challenge and opportunity for policymakers and the development of legal frameworks at the national, EU and international levels,” says Dr. Zilgalvis.
In the 2018/2019 academic year, RGSL is hosting 4 events where distinguished academics and industry experts present topics of importance to our society and industry. These events offer a unique opportunity to engage with key influencers, experts and officials on today`s critical issues that not only have a direct impact on day to day lives but also globally.
