Lecturers: The course is jointly presented by Ilze Rūse, Associated Professor at RGSL (Latvia) and Katarzyna Gratz, Ph.D (Poland). Ilze has an extensive diplomatic and academic experience. She has been working with the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for more than ten years and currently serves as Latvia’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg. Ilze holds Dr. phil. in Political Science from Salzburg University and MA in International Relations from Stockholm University. Katarzyna holds Ph.D and LL.M from the European University Institute in Florence where she studied comparative law, EU law and international law. About the course: The course initiates students to the EU political system by introducing its institutions, governance, legislative processes as well as formal and informal decision-making procedures.
