Rīgas Juridiskās augstskolas "Research Papers" sērijā Eiropas Cilvēktiesību tiesas tiesneša, bijušā RJA prorektora Mārtiņa Mita raksts "The European Convention on Human rights and democratisation of Latvia". This paper explores what impact the European Convention on Human Rights has made in the post-Socialist environment in Latvia. It looks at various levels: the judiciary, the legislature and the executive, with the aim of identifying areas where the rulings of the European Court of Human Rights have made an impact on the democratisation of the country. It also attempts to explore whether this young democracy may offer fresh input in return for the Convention system. Particular attention is paid to the domestic application of the European Convention on Human Rights by the Latvian Constitutional Court and the Latvian Supreme Court.
